What is Auto-Renew Grace Period (AGP)?
Auto-Renew Grace Period (AGP) is a domain lifecycle phase defined by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). It refers to a short period of time—subject to the Renewal Grace Period specified in each domain lifecycle FAQ (faq.webnic.cc)—that occurs after a domain name has been automatically renewed by the registry upon reaching its expiration date.
The Extension Auto Renewal Grace Period as below:
Extension | Auto Renewal Grace Period |
All gTLDs | 40 days |
.MY | 40 days |
.sg | 28 days |
.id | 40 days |
You may search for the Auto-Renewal Grace Period (also known as the Renewal Grace Period) in each extension’s FAQ link (e.g., https://faq.webnic.cc/kb/com/).
In the event of the expiry of the domain name but prior to its renewal, the domain name will be redirected to the “Domain Expired” page (collectively as “Parked Expired Domain“).
If the registrant does not make payment or confirm the renewal within the specified Auto-Renew Grace Period, WebNIC will proceed with deleting the domain. Once deleted, the domain will enter the Redemption Grace Period (RGP), during which a restoration action is required to reactivate the domain.
Example Scenario:
- A domain name expires on 1 July 2025.
- The registry automatically renews the domain on 1 July 2025, entering the Auto-Renew Grace Period. The domain’s expiration date is updated to 1 July 2026.
- If the registrant does not make payment or confirm the renewal within the specified Auto-Renew Grace Period, WebNIC will proceed to delete the domain.
- Upon deletion, the domain enters the Redemption Grace Period (RGP), and the expiration date reverts to 1 July 2025.
How registrant been notified for their domain expiration?
WebNIC will send the expiration notice via email to the domain registrant’s email address from either the partner’s profile email or do-not-reply@web-notice.com on the following date:
- 90 days before expiration date
- 60 days before expiration date
- 30 days before expiration date
- 5 days before expiration date
- 1 day after expiration date
The email subject as below:
